Supergirl, as portrayed in The CW's TV series, is Kara Zor-El, a Kryptonian refugee who arrived on Earth years after her cousin, Superman. Sent to protect him as a child, her pod was knocked off course, trapping her in the Phantom Zone for decades.

When Kara finally arrived on Earth, Superman was already established as a hero. She was taken in by the Danvers family and raised as Kara Danvers. Initially hiding her powers, she eventually embraced her destiny and became Supergirl, protecting National City.

Supergirl possesses powers similar to Superman, including flight, super strength, heat vision, and freeze breath. The CW's *Supergirl* TV show first aired on CBS on October 26, 2015 before moving to The CW.
